Just Like Mommy...

So there is always the debate who is your child like? Who does he look like? yada yada...Well when it comes to spaz-tastic moves John takes after me 110%. For those who do not know me that well, I have a lot of energy! Well what you really may not know is I have to find an outlet for that energy. At times is squeeze things really hard to release it (okay I am realizing that I am sounding really strange right now....ha)! Well recently it looks like John is following in my crazy, hyper footsteps. He just out-of-the-blue squeezes something or clenches his fists just like I do.... Watch the video for further explanation~

Productive Weekend!

We had a very productive weekend. Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the farmer's market. I went for the first time on Tuesday and was hooked and wanted to see what Saturday was like b/c I knew it would be way bigger! We had a blast. Although usually it is not so hot in the morning so I did not change John out of his pj's and boy I felt like an awful mom b/c it was SUPER humid... which would explain the torrential down pour to come later! Anyways we got some great things. We bought a gallon of blueberries...they are the best blueberries EVER! I laid them out all day and froze them last night! We also bought more butter peas...they are the best beans ever! I like to cook them with butter beans! YUMMY! We bought onions, Roma tomatoes- the best ever as well, and a watermelon. Jeff also bought some gumbo, and I bought an ivy plant for my house. It was so much fun! I think we will go again Saturday!

This is John ready for the market!
After the market. We had to use the stroller for the watermelon and plant!
All the goodies... you cant really see anything ha!
John trying to pick up the watermelon... it was hilarious
Then after the market, my mom came and picked up John so I could paint my bathroom. Last summer I painted it this blue color that kept looking more and more like periwinkle and I hated it!!! So I painted it the same color as my kitchen that I love!!! here are some before pics... The pictures do not do the periwinkle justice at all. In fact you can barely tell a difference but believe me there is a HUGE difference. We still have a lot to do to the bathroom this summer. In the picture below notice the shutter looking divider...yes I HATE it... it is coming out SOON. We are going to put up doors to make it a cabinet b/c behind the shutters are shelves... serving NO purpose except for clutter!
and the useless shelves. We are going to close off the back and the bottom three shelves will be used from the other side. Then we will put doors on the top two for toilet paper storage and soap! My F-I-L's brilliant idea! I mean seriously what were they thinking when they laid out this design...
New color! (Side note: Another reason I want the shutters gone is cleaning them is the WORST. I tried cleaning them last week so I could paint them white and I quit after 5 minutes b/c I was getting NO WHERE!)

Another picture of the new color! I love this color! It is Benjamin Moore's Marylin's Dress if you are interested. On the card it looks gray but on the walls it has a hint of blue! All in all we had a productive weekend...well saturday. I did nothing yesterday after church! Let's see what I can get done this week!

Our new den furniture

Well Jeff and I have finally decided to get new furniture for our den. We have needed it for a while but all our attention has been on the house itself not furniture. So this summer we decided to get our living room together. We decided we wanted a leather couch b/c Jeff is very very allergic to dust mites and leather would be our best option. Also with children it's easier to clean! So we found a couch we LOVED and then as we were walking out we stumbled upon this couch. Originally we walked past it b/c the one in the store was a light blue. When we sat it in we said WOW! it is so comfortable and it is a 100% leather!!! AND you can get it in a light khaki!!! SOLD! so we decided to get it! I can not wait to sit on this couch in my own home! It has been a long time coming! So here is the couch!
Then we decided to get the coffee table and two end tables that go with it b/c it matches the base of the couch perfectly! The table I wanted had glass and it is just not the right call with a toddler!

I just love my new furniture and can not wait to decorate my house!

John got this chair for Christmas and has just now started to sit it in all the time. He loves his chair....doesn't he look precious!

I love when he smiles and his two front teeth show!!!!
Morning time is defiantly my favorite time of the day with John. He is always SO happy!
I think I am going to paint today!!!

Baton Rouge trip part 2

First I am a little upset b/c I never got a group picture of all of us. I did not even take one of Hilary and I... I need to get better at that!

Thursday afternoon (after our second trip to Pottery Barn) we went swimming. I was so excited b/c John has not been swimming before. I have been a little nervous b/c he has tubes but it went GREAT! He loved the water. He was kicking the entire time! I think he is going to be a fish like I was! We stayed in the water for about 30 minutes and then John started to drink the water so we had to get out. He thought it was so funny to put his face in the water and drink it (which I was excited he like to put his face in the water that is a good sign) but I did not want him drinking it or get water in his ears.
Big John's parents have the nicest outdoor kitchen and pool. I wish we could have stayed longer but it was hot and John started getting pink even though he had on a hat, 50 spf shirt, 60 spf sunscreen and was under a cover on his floaty.... kid has some white skin like mommy and daddy!! :)
My sweet baby!
Here we are in the water. He loves it! And this is the first time my body has seen the sun in a very long time (sure y'all are so surprised about that one seeing I am so tan)

After we went swimming we decided to go eat at Bonefish Grill because I have never eaten there and it is one of Hilary's favorite places. It was just Hilary, baby John and I that went b/c John had a previous commitment. I knew John would LOVE it as he loves anything to do with fish and bread! So we ordered John the fried fish (it was Tilapia) and he devoured it!!! Then he wanted the bread so we gave him an end piece thinking it would take him a long time to eat it, and I swear I looked up two minutes later and it was gone. Here is a video of him saying he ate it all. It is hilarious!! He would eat bread for every meal if I let him! He LOVES it. The video is hard to see so look close. It was really dark in the restaurant.

I think this is my favorite picture EVER!!!!

Aunt Hilary and John... how cute (Hilary you catching on haha)
Leaving Bonefish! John is such a people person and a lady's man. As we were leaving (I always let him walk out on his own), he had to tell EVERYONE bye. And then there were a table of about 8 pretty girls about 22-25 years old and he just stopped, smiled and batted his eyes. He started talking to them and one girl could not resist him and just picked him up. I swear he was going to kiss her. It was the cutest thing EVER! A little scary seeing we are going to have to watch this little fella! He is NOT scared of strangers. He will let anyone pick him up and he LOVES it. When he gets older we are defiantly going to have to learn about STRANGER DANGER!
Shake Vito!
The next morning we decided to eat lunch at Another Broken Egg before we got on the road. They have a larger selection than the one here and boy were they a whole lot faster! I of course got the same thing and should have gotten what Hilary got- Chicken Florentine it was SO good. I just thought chicken in an omelet would be weird but it was not!

John LOVES to color and write his name... We are wondering if he is going to be left handed. It this picture he is using his right hand but usually he uses his left hand. I have been told it is too early to tell which hand will be dominant but I am anxious to see. I would prefer him be right handed b/c this is a right handed world! We'll see!!!

Right before we headed out! My sweet cheeks wearing mommy's glasses!

We had a BLAST in BR and I did not want to leave. BUT we had to b/c we decided to surprise Jeffrey at the airport. He thought I was coming home on Saturday! Originially I was coming home on Monday b/c we were going to the beach but that fell through. So we got to the airport in perfect timing. Thankfully (on my behalf) their plane was delayed 30 minutes. It was funny b/c I said to Jeff I can not believe in your trip to and from Alaska y'all have not been delayed once and then he calls and says were delayed-he blamed me... and I was so excited b/c I knew I would not have made it otherwise.

Jeff missed John SO much... (and me too of course) but it was really hard for him to be away from John. I swear he changed so much just in the ten days Jeff was gone. He he is with Daddy. He was SO excited to see him. He did not want Jeff putting him down it was so sweet!!

I had the best time but I am excited to be home. We are working really hard on our house to get it more in order before school starts. Saturday afternoon we picked out our furniture for the living room! I am going to sign for it today!!! So excited! I'll post pictures soon!

Baton Rouge trip part 1

Well this past week has been very eventful! It started out almost 2 weeks ago when we took Jeff and his dad to the airport. They were Alaska bound! Then we hung around Shreveport for a few days and on Tuesday we headed to Baton Rouge to stay with Hilary and John! We had the BEST time!!! Hilary and I (little John too) shopped nearly everyday. I think we went to Pottery Barn everyday I was there almost.... I got some great things for my house! There were some great sales!!!! John just had a blast with his aunt and uncle and cousin Vito. John LOVES little dogs!!! He kisses them so much I wonder if it is annoying to the dogs haha! We want a small dog for inside we just don't have the time right now... maybe one day!!! :) He played with Vito the entire time. He just loved him! Here are a few pictures from the airport and the first part of the trip.

The night we got to Baton Rouge we went and ate at John's parents and John got bit by something and this is his hand the next morning. It was swollen that night but got way worse the next morning. We got benedryl and motrin and it eventually went down. I was so scared b/c I did not want to go to the ER!!!

Sweet baby!!!
putting our shirt back on! He is getting the hang of it. So smart!!

Playing tug-o-war with uncle John!

Dessert time....Graham crackers!!! yummy. Vito kept trying to steal his crackers. He basically had a constant stiff arm trying to keep Vito away!
Watching Uncle John kill spiders outside! I just LOVE this picture

This baby is getting sleepy!

Kisses for Vito...Kisses for Uncle John...
Kisses for everyone...
Good night to all....

The Wheels on the Bus...

We were singing "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round..." and we noticed John knew the hand motions to the song... At first I thought he was tired b/c he was rubbing his eyes but he wasn't b/c we started over and he did it again (we were singing the part "The babies on the bus go wah wah wah") it was the CUTEST thing I have ever seen!

Memorial Day/ Father's Day/ Summer School/ SUMMER!!! (catch-up)

I have had a busy summer and have not had time to post in a month!! I took 2 (3 week) school classes at one time! Yes it was hectic but it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be!!! It was intense but it flew by so fast!!! So this post is to play a little catch up!

Happy Memorial Day! my little patriotic baby!!!

John was helping me do my morning readings before class! Before class on night this was John eating. He is stacking his turkey on his cup! haha.... it was so adorable.
For father's day, we framed this picture John made at daycare. It is so sweet. It talks about slow down daddy I want to follow your footsteps. it is so sweet. I thought it would be perfect for Jeff to put in his office. It is something he will have forever. He loved it!
So after waiting and waiting and pushing it back, I finally gave in and took John in for his first haircut. It was a little long but it was curly and I loved it!!! However it did resemble a mullet or a Ba-Mullet as we called it (Baby Mullet). This is his hair wet. Once it dries it curls up. but it was a little long....

Here we are at Graham's. This is where Jeff and his dad get their haircut. Charles is the best! It is definitely not a place for a woman though. But they made an exception for today!

Here I am trying to tell Charles NOT to cut off all of his curls.

Yeah I was not making sense. Charles was like "You want a haircut but you dont want me to cut off the curls?????" His face says it all.... and you can see his hands showing me how much/ or little I should say I want cut off...
He looks at Jeff for clarification. Still confused. I am trying to show him but really I was not sure myself.

So finally I just said CUT IT! and look at my face. I could not even watch. AND NO I did not cry! I was a little upset but did not cry!

All done. John was pretty good. He was a little unsure about Charles touching his hair. We had to make it quick!

Here is the after product! No more mullet. But because his hair is curly, it looks uneven.

So we lived with a house that had green shutters and a navy door for the better part of a year. Then Jeff primmered the shutters so we could paint them to match the door. Well they sat like that for almost a month. Looking even worse than before. However at least it showed we had the intention to make them match! Here is the primmered shutters

Here is the finished product. It took 4 hours but was so worth it! We don't look like WT anymore!
And John was great the entire time. He playing in the front yard, took a nap, and ate lunch all while I painted. I have the best baby!!!!!!!!
